South Plaza Island And Carrion Point

A Sanctuary Of Land Iguanas And Sea Lions

South Plaza Island & Carrión Point

Días De Salida: Jueves
South Plaza Island, a gem of just 13 hectares, lies to the east of Santa Cruz and offers a vibrant display of the Galapagos’ unique flora and fauna. Its twin, North Plaza, is reserved exclusively for scientific research, preserving the natural balance of this extraordinary archipelago.

Land Iguanas

Home to an important colony of land iguanas (Conolophus subcristatus), South Plaza hosts around 350 of these fascinating creatures. While they feed on a variety of plants, they rely on the fruit and flowers of Opuntia cacti during the dry season.

Sea Lions

The channel separating the twin islands is the site of one of the largest sea lion colonies in the Galapagos. Their playful antics and calls add life to the tranquil surroundings.

Cliffside Views

From the island’s rugged cliffs, you can spot some of the most vibrant birdlife in the archipelago, including:

Gaviotas de cola bifurcada
Pufinos de Galápagos

Snorkeling At Punta Carrión

The adventure continues at Punta Carrión, an excellent snorkeling site. Swim alongside peaceful white-tip reef sharks and marvel at the rich marine biodiversity beneath the waves. Whether you're an experienced snorkeler or a first-timer, this spot offers an unforgettable underwater experience.

Prepare For Your Adventure
